Officer Responsibilities FIRE CHIEF: - In charge of all operations of the fire department - In charge of public safety, fire safety, and fire investigations - Administrative work such as reports, fire contracts, and grants. Develop and maintain fire department budget, ISO fire rating, disaster plans, fire inspections, mutual aid, and insurance companies - Administrate local and state codes - Purchase needed equipment and supplies - Know all equipment - Use of I.C.S. Systems - Must carry a portable radio and notify an officer if leaving fire district - Responsible for all fire personel ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF: - Assist fire chief with everyday operations of the fire department - Will assume command when fire chief is not present - Must carry a portable radio and notify an officer if leaving fire district - Help chief with preplans of all major buildings or businesses - Use of I.C.S. Systems - Know all equipment - Fire Prevention Program
